Darius Anderson is one of California’s most respected business leaders, entrepreneurs, and political strategists.

Mr. Anderson is driven by his love for and commitment to the state and its future. For three decades he has been a driving force as a civic leader, investor, philanthropist, and newspaper publisher in projects that help to define California’s brand and its future.

Mr. Anderson’s bold strategic thinking has enabled him to become a trusted advisor to many of California’s and the nation’s highest-ranking political and business leaders for the past 25 years. He has served as an advisor or consultant to President Bill Clinton; U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Governor Jerry Brown; Governor Gray Davis, the Honorable Willie Brown Jr., Speaker of the California Assembly and was the fiancé chairman for CA Attorney General Xavier Becerra.

Mr. Anderson is CEO of Kenwood Investments, LLC, a California Real Estate Development and Opportunity Fund he founded to develop commercial and entrepreneurial projects throughout the state that augment the cultural fabric of the California community. He is responsible for the company’s participation in some of the state’s most important and largest land use and entitlement projects. He spearheaded the development of San Francisco’s Treasure Island, the acquisition of land for the Sacramento Kings NBA arena, the purchase and restructuring of Aquarium of the Bay, one of California largest environmental attractions, and other significant commercial developments. His investments in entertainment, hospitality, and food and vineyard projects in Sonoma’s wine country have helped preserve and advance the character of the world renowned wine region.

Mr. Anderson is also the Founder and Chairman of Platinum Advisors, one of the five largest full-service government affairs firms in the state. With offices in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, Platinum Advisors provides advocacy, strategic advice, government relations, project development, procurement, public affairs and strategic consulting to local and regional governments and agencies, trade associations, corporations, entrepreneurs, and non-profit groups. Over the years, Mr. Anderson has advocated on behalf of multiple industries including but not limited to telecom, healthcare, technology, transportation, and agriculture.

Mr. Anderson is the Founder and Managing Member of Sonoma Media Investments, LLC, the owner and publisher of the award-winning Santa Rosa Press Democrat, one of the state’s leading regional daily newspapers, and the Sonoma Index-Tribune. The Press Democrat won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting for its coverage of the wildfires in the region.

As a philanthropist, Mr. Anderson founded the Rebuild North Bay Foundation to provide vital and desperately needed assistance to those affected by the 2017 fire disasters in Northern California.

As a civic leader, Darius has served on a wide range of boards and councils, including as Chair of the National Advisory Council for the Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) at the University of California, Berkeley. He also has held a seat on the Board of UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy. He currently serves on the board of Californians Building Bridges, a non-profit focused on arts and cultural exchange programs between the state of California and the country of Cuba, and formerly served on the Buck Institute for Research on Aging and served on the Jackie Robinson Foundation for sixteen years.

Mr. Anderson was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors in 2018 and previously served as an appointee to California’s Political Reform Act Task Force.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Anderson served as Chief of Staff to grocery store magnate Ron Burkle’s The Yucaipa Companies and as Vice President of External Affairs for Ralphs Grocery Stores, Inc., a Fortune 500 company. He was responsible for business development, including property acquisition and development, and for government affairs, community relations, external corporate communications and public relations. He also served as the Executive Director for the Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation.

He is a passionate art collector and owns a world-class collection of baseball and Jack London memorabilia. An avid outdoorsman and conservationist, Mr. Anderson is the founder and CEO of Wing & Barrel Ranch, a 1,000-acre private sporting ranch and club in the heart of Sonoma’s wine country.

Mr. Anderson holds a B.A. in Communications from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He lives in Sonoma.
