Stemedica

PRODUCT LINES

Stemedica currently offers three allogeneic adult stem cell products that can be purchased for basic bench research, pre-clinical studies and clinical trials. Our proprietary expansion processes create cells with unique gene arrays and protein expression profiles. This enhances proliferation, migration and differentiation.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Stemedica obtains its allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from adult bone marrow and then processes them in a low oxygen environment, allowing the cells to display ischemic tolerant properties. Our MSCs have received an Investigational New Drug (IND) designation and are FDA-approved for clinical trials involving the treatment of stroke patients. Additionally, we are currently in the process of applying for an expansion of our current IND to include other ischemic conditions, including ischemic dementia and diabetic retinopathy.

Neural Stem Cells

Stemedica's allogeneic neural stem cells (NSCs) are taken from donated brain tissue and produced in a low oxygen environment, allowing them to display ischemic tolerant properties. We are currently applying for an IND and seeking Swiss regulatory approval to conduct pre-clinical studies for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, using NSCs in conjunction with Stemedica's MSCs.

Retinal Pigment Epithelial Progenitor Cells

Stemedica's allogeneic retinal epithelial cells are created in a low oxygen environment, allowing them to display ischemic tolerant properties. They are capable of being used for clinical trials in the treatment of various ophthalmological indications, including retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration. We are in the process of finalizing the details regarding this particular line and seek to apply for an IND in 2012.
